Join us next Friday Jan. 12th for our first installment of our Iyokpiya Waunspepi, "Having FUN While We Learn Together". Robert Yellow Hawk and his family will be teaching us about Lakota Traditional Dancing and Regalia . Through this you will also learn how dancing and regalia reflect Lakota values, spirituality and how powwow dancing is part of cultural identity.

We hope everyone has enjoyed their winter break! Tomorrow students will head back to school for the first week of the second semester! We will also have school this Friday as scheduled.

The TCHS Boys and Girls basketball games vs. Cheyenne - Eagle Butte for tomorrow 12/29 have been postponed. The rescheduled date for the double-header will be announced at a later time.

Good evening, 12-month staff will have a regular workday tomorrow 12/28. If you need more time getting into work please contact your supervisor to let them know.

All TCSD buildings will be closed tomorrow 12/27, and 12-month employees will be granted admin leave. Stay safe and warm.

Congrats Mr. Her Many Horses! When Albert Her Many Horses arrived at today's Todd County Middle School assembly, he had no idea he was about to win the "Oscars of Teaching" in front of excited students, proud colleagues and visiting dignitaries! Mr. Her Many Horses was shocked and humbled when we surprised him with South Dakota's $25,000 Milken Educator Award. South Dakota Secretary of Education Dr. Joseph Graves, U.S. Senator Mike Rounds and Rosebud Sioux Tribe President Scott Herman joined us for his career-changing celebration. Her Many Horses teaches band, chorus, general music and Lakota language classes at TCMS, going above and beyond to support his students and colleagues. Raised on the Rosebud Reservation, he understands the experiences of his students and is a positive influence in their lives in his classroom and beyond. He has dedicated his time to tutoring, volunteering for the wrestling program and establishing a wellness group to promote student mentorship. Her Many Horses’ leadership is far-reaching, serving alongside Native American tribal members on the Lakota Language and Culture committee, advising the integration of Lakota language and culture within schools. On behalf of your students, thank you for making education your chosen career.

TCHS student Meadow Reinders is collecting donations for her Girl Scouts Gold Project! Please see below for requested items- Hi Everyone – My name is Meadow Reinders and I am a 9th grader. I am working on my Gold Project for Girls Scouts which is the highest award I can achieve. My project is revamping/reorganizing our clothing closet (which will include hygiene and pantry items also). My project is called “The Caring Closet” and it needs some items. I am asking for donations of the following items: • women’s and men’s clothing (sizes small and up) • underwear (including bras and sports bras) • socks • lightly used or brand-new shoes (adult sizes) • monetary donations to purchase racks/shelves to organize the clothing, supplies to make a changing room, and clothing items • hygiene products • nonperishable food items I also started a Go Fund Me account where monetary donations can be made as well. https://gofund.me/1909b7f9 If you would like to donate, please let my mom and dad know and we can arrange drop off/pick up.
