Scholarship Requirements
December 31 Power of Resilience Scholarship: $1000
-Be a high school or college student
-Maintian a minimum GPA of 3.0
-Write a 1,000-word essay discussing when you were faced with a serious life challenge and how you overcame that challenge. In your essay, you should explain what you have learned, and especially what others can learn from your experience.
December GE-Reagan Foundation: Renewable $10,000 for total $40,000
-Be a US citizen
-Be a High School Senior
-Demonstrate at school, at the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship
-Demonstrate strong academic performance (minimum 3.0 grade point average/4.0 scale or equivalent)
-Plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor’s degree at an accredited four-year college or university for the upcoming academic year
January Foot Locker: One-time $20,000
-Be a US citizen
-Be entering college in the Fall of 2022 as a Freshman at a four-year school for an undergraduate degree
-Be currently involved in high school sports, intramural sports, or community based sports
-Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
-Not be an employee of Foot Locker, Inc., or any of its subsidiaries, or a member of the immediate family of such an employee

-Tell what “love is kind” means to you, how you live out those values, and how you want to benefit the world through love and kindness
February 16 Cherry-Todd: One-time $1000
-Be a dependent of a member of Cherry-Todd
-Be a student who is enrolled or planning to enroll in a full-time graduate or undergraduate course of study at an accredited, two-year or four-year college, university or vocational/ technical school
-Criteria such as ACT scores, overall grade point averages, work experience, participation in school and community activities, a personal statement of career goals and a written recommendation by a third party will be used
February 28 Richard Hagen-Minerva Harvey: Total $6000 over 4 years
-Be member of Native American tribe
-Attend an accredited college or technical institute in SD
March 1 Buches Underdog: One-time $1000
-Be a US citizen
-Be a Senior
-Plan to attend a trade school or college in the Fall Semester
-Be registered for a minimum of 12 credit hours
March 1 Hagan 2024-2025 Scholarship: $48,000 for Bachelors degree + $24,000 additional
-Must be a U.S. Citizen
-Must attend an eligible public high school
-Must have achieved a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average
-Must be in the top 20% of the high school graduating class, confirmed by the high school counselor
-Must enroll at an Eligible Four-Year College or University the first semester following high school graduation
-Must maintain a four year or less graduation schedule in college
-Must work 240 hours during the twelve months prior to fall semester college enrollment. Employment must be regularly scheduled work performed under supervision for compensation
-Must provide a complete copy of the FAFSA SAR showing the EFC
March 10 Martin Curtis Hohn: One-time $1000
-Attend a public or private college, university, or technical school in South Dakota
-Preferences will be given to applicants pursuing studies in history, political science, or water resources
March 13 Better Business Bureau (BBB): One-time $2000
-Qualifies as a high school senior
-Plans to continue education after high school graduation
-Resides in BBB’s service area - Nebraska, South Dakota, The Kansas Plains
March 15 Golden West: One-time $1000
-Student's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must reside within one of the Golden West telephone service areas and subscribe to a Golden West phone or internet service
-Be a High School Senior
-Take the SAT or ACT no later than December 31 of Senior year
-Scholarship awards only applied to post-secondary institutions
-Must be taking 12 or more classroom credits the fall semester immediately following graduation
March 15 Horatio Alger National & State: $25,000 & $10,000 (Juniors)
-Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States
-Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution)
-Demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)
-Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
-Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
-Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and
-Be a United States citizen
March 26 Bellator Titans MC: One-time $1500 (apply in guidance)
-Be a South Dakota resident
-Be a Senior going into first year of post-secondary education in South Dakota
March 31 Cobell: Renewable up to $6000 for undergraduate, up to $12,500 for graduate
-Be an enrolled member of a US Federally Recognized Tribe
-Have unmet need
-Be enrolled in full-time study and is degree seeking
-Applicants must plan to attend or be attending any nationally, regionally and industry accredited non-profit, public or private institution. Applicants must be pursuing a vocational certificate or diploma, associate’s, bachelors, masters, doctoral or professional degree, or certificate
March 31 Build Dakota: Full Ride for approved Technical schools
-Be a US citizen
-Be accepted into an academic program eligible for a Build Dakota Scholarship
-Commit to stay in South Dakota and work in a high-demand field of study for 3 years
-Work for your Industry Sponsor for 3 years, if you lose your sponsor, you lose your scholarship
-Must complete the FAFSA
-As a Build Dakota Scholar, if you do not maintain compliance with the scholarship requirements, your scholarship will convert to a loan that you will be required to pay
March 31 Folds of Honor: Renewable Up to $5000 per year
Military:
-Enrolled or plan to enroll at accredited college or university

First Responder:

-Demonstrate financial need-on average applicants have an annual household income of $75,000 or less
-Pursuing first undergraduate degree at an accredited, degree-granting institution
April 30 Catching the Dream: Renewable $500-$5000 per year
-Be enrolled member of a tribe
-Attending college or university full-time, seeking a Bachelors degree or higher
-Must apply for all other sources of funding including campus based aid
-Submit ACT score
April 30 Silent Servant (Counselor Nominated):
-Student nominee must be attending public high school in the US
-Student Nominee's past and current public service activities are: for altruistic reasons only, marked by unselfish concern for the welfare of others, independent, voluntary and beneficial to the citizens of the greater community outside their school, without monetary or material reward or personal gain, devoid of any imposed requirement to serve
-Maintain South Dakota residency for at least one year prior to scholarship application
-Demonstrate financial need
-Attend an eligible institution
-Maintain a GPA of at least 2.0 while enrolled at the eligible institution
-Be pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
-Graduate in five years or less
-Commit in writing to live and work in South Dakota for three years after graduation
-Acknowledge that any failure to meet these requirements will result in the conversion from a scholarship to an interest-bearing loan

-Demonstrate a sustained involvement in tribal community and an applied concern for Indigenous issues and initiatives

-Demonstrate involvement in extracurricular, athletic activities, and/or additional learned skills (e.g., languages, computer skills, software/ programs fluent in, etc.)

September 1 South Dakota Opportunity: Up to $7500 over 4 years
-Be a resident of South Dakota at the time of high school graduation
-Have an ACT Composite or Super Score* of 24 or higher
-Complete the high school course requirements (see Curriculum Requirements webpage) with no final grade below a "C" (2.0 on a 4.0 scale)
-Attend a university, college, or technical school accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and that provides instruction from a campus located in South Dakota.
-Enter into the program within 5 years of high school graduation, or within 1 year of the student's release from active duty military service (if that release is within 5 years of the date of the student's high school graduation). Students seeking to transfer from a regionally accredited university, college, or technical school located outside of South Dakota may do so within two years following high school graduation and be eligible to receive partial award.

-When awarded, students must send in an official letter from their school of choice stating the student is in good standing. Students must continue to attend classes and maintain no lower than a 3.0 GPA

-Work experience, extra-curricular activities, and community service taken into consideration

-Demonstrate ambition and self-drive to be a force for good in school, community or work activities
-Be willing to provide a release to publicize their identities and information about their achievements along with photographs for use in program promotion and information
-Have a minimum 2.5 GPA
